It’s just about spring…again. Uniquely timed, we see the dirt and cold pass away and begin to watch as new life unfolds in all of its glory. First a thawing in the ground appears, which is quite ugly, but in reality is causing the soil to become more pliable, preparing it for new life. This is followed by little shoots of green, promising refreshment and rebirth, and finally the birds begin to sing – winter has passed, spring has come and, in hearing the song, creation comes alive.

That’s just like our lives. When we’ve been in a frigid place spiritually, it all seems unappealing and, looking at our lives, we don’t know how we manage to avoid getting trapped in the gunk of all the muck that is us. It isn’t pretty we know because people have told us. What we fail to see is that the soil of our hearts is being softened; roots are forming just below the surface, and within no time at all tender shoots of a renewed being are breaking free of the ugly,     promising the beauty that is yet to come.

And just as the Lord is there in the winter, we find He is there in spring, causing that which He’s destined for us from the beginning to come forth.     Remember in slush, that your new beginning is coming -quietly, without fanfare, with only His Spirit bearing witness – soon to be admired as a symbol of true hope, authentic faith, and abiding love, as you hear the Lord whisper:

“Get up, my love! My beauty! Come Away!

See! The winter is passed,

The rains are over and gone.

Flowers appear on the earth;

The season of singing has come.

The cooing of doves is heard in our land.

The fig tree forms its early fruit;

The blossoming vines spread their fragrance.

Arise, come, my darling;

My beautiful one, come with Me.”
